Nepean (Springwood) – July 2018
Michael started his journey with OCTEC while he was trying to find employment as an Indigenous man. In order for Juan to fully support Michael he needed to speak with one of our community partners – the Aboriginal Employment Strategy Ltd. AES (Aboriginal Employment Strategy) are a not-for-profit service who are proven and innovative leaders of Aboriginal recruitment and training.
Michael Stanvic is an OCTEC participant at our Springwood office. He has been working with our consultant Juan Del Carmen to identify the right career options for him.
Michael and Juan met with Stephen Nelson from AES to discuss options to equip him with the right skills to be job ready. As a result Michael commenced a traineeship program with Muru Mittigar, a local Indigenous Social Enterprise. Michael trained to work with native flora and fauna through the Muru Mittigar Nursery. He is really happy to be gaining skills that will help him get to his dream job.
Working collaboratively with AES meant OCTEC could offer culturally appropriate support. Michael became job ready and is working for a career he has always dreamed about.
