Trent visited OCTEC DES in Forbes, accompanied by his NDIS support worker, Jason from Goddo’s Support Services.
He met with Regional Manager Amy to explore potential employment opportunities in administration. Despite requiring 24/7 care due to his mobility restrictions and endurance limitations, Trent remained optimistic about making a positive impact in a fulfilling role.
He held valuable certifications in Information Technology, Business Administration, Small Business Management and Accounting. His organisational and time management skills made him a perfect fit for an administration assistant role.
Amy discussed with Jason the potential for creating a tailored administration role for Trent at Goddo’s Support Services. Trent confirmed his confidence working in the role. Thanks to Trent’s home office setup, this role allowed him to work flexible hours and utilise the technology designed for his needs.
Amy supported Trent and his employer with an OCTEC Biz Support Package and a DSS Wage Subsidy. This assistance ensured Jason had the necessary resources for Trent to perform and succeed in his new position.
As the weeks passed, Trent settled well into his role. His proficiency in handling various administrative tasks became apparent to Jason.
Trent acknowledges Amy’s incredible support. Her help enabled him to overcome certain barriers and transform them into stepping stones for success.
“For the last 12 years I have only participated in volunteer work with various businesses. I have recently gained meaningful employment with the help and support from my Career Consultant, Amy Townsend. It has enabled me to gain a lot more financial independence and confidence in my ability to work. Without OCTEC Limited I would not be as progressive and successful as what I am.”
TRENT
Jason had nothing but praise for Trent’s determination and worth ethic.
“It has been a great honour in employing Trent. The skills that this young man has shown me since joining my business have been remarkable. Nothing is ever a problem for Trent and he is always willing to learn and adapt. Trent now is progressing into assisting with Care Plan Packages for other NDIS participants that I service. Trent’s positivity is extremely infectious on all others around him.
In liasing with Amy Townsend in her role at OCTEC Limited it has been a pleasure to see the passion that she has for her clients. OCTEC Limited is an amazing organisation to work in conjunction with. I have noted that anything that I have asked for in support of Trent’s employment has never been a hassle.”
JASON
Trent’s story is a beacon of hope and motivation for others facing similar challenges. It proves that with the right support and determination, fulfilling employment is within reach for everyone.
