Taylah gains confidence and finds career path

Taylah joined OCTEC Transition to Work Wollongong with limited job-seeking skills and work experience, feeling lost and uncertain about the future. Her bubbly personality, strong motivation and eagerness to learn stood out to OCTEC TtW Consultant Anamalia as factors that could help her get a foot in the door.

Together, they focused on building Taylah’s confidence and employability skills. Anamalia helped Taylah build her resume, cover letters and with interview preparation.

Anamalia also encouraged Taylah to step outside her comfort zone by applying for support roles in healthcare, opportunities she never would have considered in the past. While she faced early setbacks, Taylah stayed positive and used each experience as a chance to learn and grow.

Determined to gain more skills, Taylah completed a Certificate III in Community Services through OCTEC Training Services. She also participated in Dress for Success NSW & Illawarra, receiving clothing and styling support to help her feel empowered and interview-ready. Along the journey, Anamalia assisted Taylah with improving and expanding her digital literacy skills.

It wasn’t long until Taylah received and accepted a role as a Customer Solutions Specialist with Probe CX, specialising within the healthcare sector.

OCTEC continued to support Taylah, with Anamalia maintaining regular check-ins with both Taylah and her employer.

“Taylah has shown incredible dedication to her personal and professional growth. Her confidence has grown significantly, and it’s been wonderful to see her succeed,” Anamalia said.

Taylah said she felt supported every step of the way, with study and career planning, which has led to her self-belief growing.
