Our History

OCTEC Timeline

OCTEC started as a two person youth service in Orange (Central West NSW) back in 1976 and has grown to be an award-winning service provider operating across large parts of NSW, QLD, the ACT and Victoria. OCTEC has delivered every major government-funded employment services program since its inception including CYSS (Community Youth Support Scheme), SkillShare and Job Network.

1976

OCTEC started as a two person youth service in Orange (Central West NSW). Commenced with support of Orange City Council

1977

Funded as Community Youth Support Scheme (CYSS) in Orange

1989

Started Community Service and Health training with UnitingCare Ageing

1990

State government mature workers program and Telstra Best of Health Contract

1991

State government disability employment programs and federal youth service funded

1992

Federal disablility employment program for competitive employment

1995

ESRA Case management for Indigenous, youth and mature workers; Attained Registered Training Organisation status, commences labour hire, LEAP

1996

State government funding for Indigenous employment and post-release support, supported accommodation for youth, began Huntley Berry Farm

1997

Co-wrote with industry partner and had accredited, one of Australias first Certificate III in Aged Care Work for Assistance in Nursing

1998

Job-Network Community Work Coordinator contracts awarded

2001

Federal government ‘Networking the Nation’ Program

2004

Federal Health and Ageing aged care training
